This summer, through being in practically every kitchen, the newfangled "banana bread latte" is being mass-made. If you enjoy sweet bread, after which the drink is fashioned, you should definitely try it. It has the flavor of banana bread, but you don't have to mix or bake anything—they're absolutely delicious.

Banana bread lattes are still up for debate as to who made them first, but one way to prepare them has gone super trendy on social media and is pretty much easy to whip up at home.

This simple drink is prepared just like actual banana bread, by mashing the bananas on a plate. Place the smashed banana in a small pan along with brown sugar and some water. Some variations in quantity exist here and there, but one tip is to just follow an easy 1:1:1 ratio of one banana, one cup of brown sugar, and one cup of water.

Add a little salt, a dash of cinnamon, and perhaps a bit of nutmeg in there. Mix, then heat the banana-sugar mixture on medium until it starts bubbling. Keep cooking it till it thickens up a bit. Put the heat on, but stir in some vanilla or almond extract if you want.

You may either pour this banana syrup through a fine sieve to remove any fruit bits or just blend it until smooth. And there you have it: your banana syrup is all set! Scoop up as much as you want into a small heat-proof cup, and pour the espresso right on top of it. Stir together the hot espresso and the syrup.

Then, you can proceed with making a latte like you normally do. Pour it all over ice with the milk of your choice for a cold latte, or heat up some milk for a warm one. If you do not happen to have a machine for pulling espresso shots, simply mix a spoonful of this syrup into your regular coffee or cold brew. For a little extra, mix banana syrup with hot or cold foam to crown your drink.

With its famous banana bread latte, the "banana cream" or banana pudding lattes became quite a big thing on the internet in 2024. The wonderful thing was that, unlike the banana bread lattes, there was no one manner or recipe that most people utilized for these. Instead, different creators would showcase quite a variety of ways of preparing banana-flavored drinks.

One user made a banana cream latte using banana pudding mix and white chocolate syrup, while another mixed banana with the frothy cream topping. Nilla wafers are, of course, usually added to banana pudding lattes; those vanilla cookies are essential to the classic banana pudding taste.

If you don't want to make your own banana syrup, don't worry—Dutch Bros Coffee is spread across the US with more than 1,000 locations, so you can get banana bread syrup from them. The place clearly has an army of fans who rave about the syrup, with most mixing it into cold brew, but it is fine for lattes, too.
