For thawing a turkey, Popeyes recommends carrying out two basic steps: cover the turkey then put inside the refrigerator for about 72 hours; or submerge the turkey in cold water, changing the water frequently until ready for further cooking. Heat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large roasting pan fitted with a rack, place the turkey and pour off any extra juices right into the pan. Cover the whole thing with aluminum foil and place it on the very bottom rack in the oven for one and a half to two hours. Unwrap the turkey and continue cooking it for another thirty minutes after reheating it to reach the internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
